Chinese company Xiaomi on Tuesday unveiled a new variant of its affordable Redmi 3 phone . Touted as the Redmi 3 Pro, the phone comes with bumped up RAM and internal memory over the original Redmi 3. More importantly, it comes with a fingerprint scanner on the rear, much like the Redmi Note 3 .

The Redmi 3 Pro has been priced at CNY 899 (roughly Rs 9,000) in China and will go on sale for the first time on April 6 (flash sale).

The Xiaomi Redmi 3 Pro comes with a 5-inch HD display with a 720x1280 pixels resolution. It is powered by a 1.2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 processor coupled with 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal memory which is further expandable by up to 128GB via microSD card.
It sports a 13-megapixel camera on the rear with LED flash and phase detection autofocus along with a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The dualSIM phone runs MIUI 7 and supports 4G LTE. It is backed by a 4,100mAh battery.
For connectivity, the Redmi 3 Pro comes with 4G LTE connectivity, with support for LTE bands in India. Other options include Bluetooth, GPS, A-GPS, Glonass, GPRS/ EDGE, Micro-USB, and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n. It measures 139.3x69.6x8.5mm and weighs 144 grams
Redmi 3 phone will not be coming to India anytime soon as the company wants to stick with its philosophy of trying to bring its products to India as soon as possible.
"It is best to just focus on one device for now, and kind of not bring the device even later because at that point it may not be (as relevant). There may be an opportunity later to maybe bring a newer version of that product," Hugo had said.
The Redmi 3 Pro could be that variant that Xiaomi brings to India, we never know. For now, there's no official word about the global availability and pricing of the Redmi 3 Pro.
